Doolittle Raiders On April 18, 1942, James Doolittle led 16 B-25s to bomb targets in Tokyo and other major Japanese cities. It was one of the most dramatic propaganda coups of the war. This daring feat gave hope and optimism to the Allies, who until this time had experienced few victories. The pilots and crew who participated in this mission became known as the Doolittle Raiders.

Signed in various shades of ink by: Bill Bower, Edwin Horton, Jack A. Sims, J. R. Stork, Frank Keppeler, Jacob DeShazer, Nolan Herndon, David Jones, Hank Potter (signed twice), Joseph Manske, Chase Jay Nielson, Travis Hoover, Charles C. McClure, Everett W. Holstrom, plus four of the only five surviving Raiders: Richard Cole, Thomas Griffin, Edward Saylor, and David Thatcher.
